Make a splash with us at our 18th Annual Fishing Tournament and Block Party! Whether you’re vying for the biggest catch of the day or celebrating with the FIU Alumni Association back on land, we’re all united in a great cause!
In 2002, Jose Perez de Corcho ’93 and Jose Bofill ’90, both passionate FIU alumni and avid fishermen, were looking for a creative way to give back to the university. With support from TotalBank, their initiative brought the Fishing Tournament and Block Party to life. What began as a modest competition between friends has evolved, raising more than $140,000 for student scholarships in the process!
This year, the money raised through sponsorships and boat registrations benefits the continued success of our FIU Athletics program. The net proceeds from the Fishing Tournament and Block Party will support the FIU Athletics Director’s Priority Fund.
The cost to participate in the tournament starts at $600 per boat with a maximum of six anglers.
Prizes will be awarded for the largest dolphin and other great catches, including tuna, wahoo and kingfish!
If fishing isn’t your thing, don't worry! There's something for everyone looking for a good time with fellow Panthers.
The fun continues back on land with FIU Alumni at the Block Party! Help us celebrate the 2022 Fishing Tournament winners at Monty's in Coconut Grove while you enjoy music, food, drinks, giveaways, special appearances and so much more. Bring your friends and family! The Block Party is open to the public.
